Revolutionary Turn.aido 1000 alternating air overlay is designed to significantly help carers provide optimum comfort and care for highly dependent patients, and to harmonize with the new generation of profiling beds recommended by the N.C.S.C. (Standard 24.3).
Turn.aido 1000 is revolutionary overlay which combines repositioning with alternating pressure relief and profiles to 60 degrees with minimal or no cell compression. It includes an inbuilt ergonomic rotational nurse aid cover that has been shown to both reduce the number of carers required to perform patient repositioning and to enable such repositioning to be completed in a easier, quicker and gentler way.
Furthermore, easier repositioning of patients, using less staff, can help nurses achieve the N.I.C.E. Guideline 1.2.1.2 October 2003 which states," individuals who are vulnerable to or at risk of pressure ulcers development should be repositioned and the frequency of repositioning determined by the results of skin inspection and individual needs, not by a ritualistic schedule”.
Key features at a glance
- The system is designed with a unique rotational nurse aid cover that can significantly help nurses to provide optimum comfort and care for highly dependent patients.
- Turn.aido’s ergonomic rotational cover is built-in and always ready for use.
- The unique design helps prevent cells from compressing when the systems are profiled beyond 40 degrees, which in turn can reduce premature cell wear and tear in the critical sacrum area, as well as help to ensure that consistent airflow and clinical effectiveness is maintained, also allowing patients to sit up comfortably whilst reading, eating, and watching TV with little or no shear.
Patient benefits
- Can enable staff to perform smoother and gentler patient repositioning that can result in less patient disturbance, especially when patients are resting or asleep.
- Can help preserve a patient’s dignity, when toileting, bed bathing or changing wound dressings, as these routines, can be completed in a quicker way and with less staff.
- Offers a minimal touch manual handling nurse aid, particularly suited to repositioning patients, with fractures, bone cancer, or those that feel pain to the touch.
- Can offer less distress for immobile/obese patients when manoeuvred, as they can be repositioned with more ease.
- It allows the body to breath: it has a two-way stretch waterproof and vapour-permeable fabric.
Carer benefits
- Can save up to half the time it takes to turn patients.
- Can reduce the number of nurses required for repositioning and hygiene routines.
- Is always ready for use, time is no longer spent hunting for moving and handling equipment before manoeuvring.
- Can make it easier to comply with the minimal lifting policy.
- Can help prevent costly nursing back strain, and the subsequent shortage of staff or can help to improve staff morale and staff turnover by offering a nurse aid that can enable nursing routines to be conducted in an easier quicker and less strenuous way.
- Makes light work of heavy patients.
